Research Promotion Policy

Preamble

Agni College of Technology (ACT) recognizes that impactful research and innovation are integral to achieving academic excellence and societal progress. The institution encourages all faculty, scholars, and students to pursue cutting-edge research, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and contribute significantly to technological development and knowledge dissemination.

Objectives

  • To build a vibrant research culture across all departments.
  • To provide structured support for faculty and students to undertake quality research.
  • To facilitate funding, infrastructure, and academic freedom required for high-impact research.
  • To encourage innovation, patenting, and commercialization of research outcomes.
  • To establish ACT as a hub of industry-relevant research and consultancy.

Scope and
Applicability

  • All faculty members (regular, contractual, adjunct) of ACT.
  • Ph.D. scholars, postgraduate, and undergraduate students involved in research.
  • Research guides, mentors, and associated collaborators.

Research
Promotion Strategies

Seed Grant Support

  • Internal seed grants will be provided for initiating novel research.
  • Proposals will be evaluated by a Research Advisory Committee.
  • Funding includes equipment purchase, consumables, and testing charges.

External Funding Facilitation

  • Faculty are encouraged to apply for grants from AICTE, DST, ISRO, DBT, DRDO, CSIR, SERB, MSME, etc.
  • Proposal review and submission assistance will be offered through the R&D Cell.

Incentives for Research Contributions

  • Cash awards for publications in reputed journals (Scopus, WoS, SCI).
  • Financial support for filing patents and attending conferences.
  • Recognition for book publications and funded project achievements.

Research Support for Students

  • UG/PG students are encouraged to participate in funded mini-projects and internships.
  • Summer Research Programs and Research Internships with a stipend of ₹5,000 for 8 weeks.
  • Research mentorship under faculty members for publishing in journals or conferences.

Sabbatical & Academic Leave

  • Provision of sabbatical leave for faculty to pursue research in reputed national/international institutions.
  • Academic leave up to 15 days/year for conference paper presentations.

Research Ethics

  • Strict adherence to research integrity and anti-plagiarism norms.
  • Use of plagiarism detection tools for thesis, dissertations, and manuscripts.
  • Violations will attract penalties as per UGC/AICTE norms and institutional ethics committee decisions.

Consultancy and Collaboration

  • Faculty are encouraged to undertake industry-sponsored consultancy.
  • Incentives and revenue sharing as per the ACT Consultancy Policy.
  • Establishment of MoUs for collaborative R&D with industries, research organizations, and academic institutions.

Review and Amendments

  • This policy will be reviewed annually by the R&D Advisory Board.
  • Amendments will be made based on stakeholder feedback and evolving research trends.
