Empowering Students with MSME Recognition and Real-World Business Opportunities
Agni College of Technology (ACT) has emerged as a front-runner in promoting student entrepreneurship by actively encouraging and facilitating UDYAM registration for student-led ventures under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. This initiative is part of ACT’s broader mission to instill business readiness, innovation, and self-reliance among its students, aligning with national priorities like Startup India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Through formal registration under the UDYAM scheme, students are able to convert their innovative ideas into recognized micro enterprises, gaining access to a wide range of government benefits, support mechanisms, and institutional backing. This initiative also provides tangible outcomes that go beyond the classroom, equipping students with practical business experience and entrepreneurial confidence.
Student-run startups registered under UDYAM span a variety of sectors, reflecting the diversity and interdisciplinary strength of the college:
These startups have officially received UDYAM registration numbers and are classified under the National Industry Classification (NIC) system for the academic year 2024–25. Each venture falls under either the ‘Services’ or ‘Manufacturing’ activity categories, making them eligible for relevant MSME schemes and benefits.
Though incubated and mentored at Agni College of Technology, many of these ventures are now operating across various districts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Madurai, and Tiruchirappalli. This demonstrates the state-wide entrepreneurial impact of ACT’s incubation programs and how students are expanding their businesses beyond the college campus.
