With a view to spearheading the Research and Development acumen among school students and inculcating the vision of implementing theoretical insights of science and Technology into practical prototypes, Agni College of Technology (ACT), Thalambur, Chennai, hosted an epoch-making event, AGNI’S Ignite India, a State Level Science Project Competition on 4th February 2019 at the College premises. This project exhibition, titled “IGNITE SEASON – 5”, was conducted for the fifth consecutive year. In the august presence of the Chief Guests, Prof.M.K.Surappa, Vice-Chancellor of Anna University and Mr.Vinoth Mannatil, Senior Vice President, Wells Fargo, Chennai division, students from various districts of Tamilnadu displayed their innovative projects and explained the concepts, mechanisms and working principles of their projects. The event was conducted in two stages i.e District Level Competition for junior and senior level school students hailing from Chennai, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur districts, and State Level Competition for junior and senior level school students from all the districts of Tamil nadu. More than 700 students from almost all the districts of Tamilnadu participated in this Science and Technology project exhibition. The top 3 projects in each category were rewarded with medals and trophies.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Prof.M.K.Surappa, Vice-Chancellor of Anna University spoke about the science teachers’ role in imbibing inquisitiveness and problem-solving skills among their students and the need for students to be overtly creative, dynamic and think out of the box to provide viable solutions to the day to day challenges faced by the masses in all walks of life.
The event was presided by Mr. R.N. Jayaprakash, Managing Trustee in the presence of Mrs. Bhavani Jayaprakash, Chairperson and Mr. Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Vice Chairman.
